Barr is one of 17 branches in the St. Louis Public Library system. It’s located in the Gate District neighborhood, near Lafayette Park. The land for the branch was purchased by William Barr, of Famous-Barr, who then donated it to the library in 1901. The Barr Branch is the first of seven libraries enabled by Andrew Carnegie in St. Louis.
